Your first two weeks with paint protection film.
When to wash, what to leave alone, and why the follow-up visit belongs in your calendar.

Before leaving the shop
Confirm the installation date, your selected film and the aftercare instructions. Save the installer’s contact details and arrange the follow-up inspection. It is easier to keep care on track when you know when you can wash the vehicle and who to contact with a concern.
First three days: let the film bond
The X-Films PPF aftercare guide says not to wash your vehicle during the first three days. Leave the film’s edges alone and do not try to peel, press or repair a concern yourself. Send photos to your installer if you notice an issue.
After three days: washing is allowed
The guide allows washing after three days, while continuing to avoid high-pressure and automatic washes. Strong water pressure and rollers may lift the edges. Do not apply wax or polish; ask your installer about suitable cleaning products and follow the care instructions for the selected film.
At two weeks: return for inspection
Book the two-week inspection so your installer can check adhesion, bubbles and lifting edges and make any necessary adjustments. Keep a short list of questions and photos of anything you want the shop to examine. An inspection is more useful than guessing from a picture online.
Plan the longer-term care as well
The two-week check is separate from the maintenance visits in the X-Films warranty guidance. That guidance requires two maintenance sessions within the first year. Ask the shop to explain the schedule, services and any charges, and keep records of the visits with your receipt and warranty documents.
