Your installation-day checklist starts before the appointment.
What to confirm, what to bring up, and how to plan around your vehicle’s time in the shop.

Get the appointment details in writing
Confirm the branch, product, coverage, quotation and handover time with your chosen installer. Ask when the vehicle is expected to be ready. The X-Films guides suggest allowing 3–5 hours for tint or 3–5 days for PPF; these are estimates, so use your shop’s confirmed schedule when arranging transport.
Bring a clean vehicle and clear the work area
Both preparation guides recommend washing the vehicle and removing personal belongings before handover. A clean vehicle also makes it easier to review existing marks with the installer. Take time to walk around it with the shop and agree on the condition before work begins.
For tint: mention the old film and accessories
Tell the installer about existing tint, rear-window defogger lines and any wiring or electrical concerns. Old film and defogger lines should be assessed before removal. Discuss dashcams and other glass-mounted accessories so the shop can explain when and where to remount them.
For PPF: share the paint history
Declare repainted panels and any coatings, waxes or sealants already on the vehicle. Ask what preparation is included in the quote. The X-Films guide requires recently repainted panels to be fully cured for at least three months before installation; let the installer review this before you leave the vehicle.
At collection: leave with a care plan
Confirm the installed product and covered areas, collect your receipt and warranty details, and ask the shop to explain the first days of aftercare. For tint, plan to keep the windows up for the first 3–4 days. For PPF, allow three days before washing and book the two-week inspection.
